In near ideal weather conditions 14 riders started out from Englewood, NJ with the intent of completing a difficult 400k. By Rhinebeck New York three riders had already abandoned. With a fourth packing by Ellenville. It was indeed a route that would challenge all comers. Ten riders made it to the finish, none of which took less than 19 hours. Jon Levitt and Mike Eng were the first to arrive. With Mike having completed his first 400k. Bob Dye also completed his first 400k arriving at the finish not long after the first two. Congratulations to all the finishers. A special tip of the chapeau to Hans Jatzke who completed the route outside of the time limit. Despite knowing he would likely not make the finish on time Hans left the Chester control on his bike for the difficult final section to Englewood and stuck with it until he made it to the finish. His tenacity is to be respected.
